Need a place to celebrate an upcoming event in the Ames area? Our American Legion banquet hall in McCallsburg offers a large banquet hall with various accommodations no matter your party venue. The Hall venue can accommodate groups up to 240 people and is available for rent for wedding receptions and other party events. We provide tables and chairs for all events as well as bar service and use of a kitchen. The American Legion is ADA Accessible and available to veterans and the community when it is not being used. The legion is just a few miles from Ames, Marshalltown and Story City.

  • Banquet Hall Rental - Bring your own food or caterer of your choice. Substantial space holds up to 240 guests. Plenty of parking. Free WiFi available. Air Conditioning/Heating – Doors must be closed at all times.
  • Bar options- Several bar options are available including soft drinks, beers, and set-ups. The bar holds up to 50 people. A legion post bartender must serve alcohol. No kegs are allowed. Event bartender only $50. American Legion memorabilia on display.
  • Kitchen - Spacious kitchen with large serving window. Access to freezers, fridge, and stove.

Prices & Other Details


  • Legion Hall Rental Fee – $100, includes use of kitchen, no bar service
  • Front Room - bar area without alcohol - $50
  • Whole Building - $300, includes Hall, bar (without alcohol)/service and kitchen
  • $100 deposit is required when rental agreement is signed. $200 deposit is required for all building with bar. Deposit is in addition to applicable rental fees and is non-refundable if the event is cancelled. Deposit is refunded when the hall is inspected and all clean up requirements have been met
  • If the hall is used prior to the special event, there is a charge of $25
  • Clean up service - $100 clean up service is optional, but will be assessed if the renter fails to meet the clean-up requirements. A legion member will do the inspections. $25 clean-up is added if additional days are needed.
  • Lost items - $75 if anything is lost at the Legion such as TV remote, chairs etc.

Rules

  • Air Conditioning/Heating – Doors must be closed at all times
  • ABSOLUTELY NO STANDING/LAYING OR SITTING ON TABLES
  • NO SMOKING or VAPING IN BUILDING
  • Parking lot should be free of liter or debris
  • UNDERAGE DRINKING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED
  • RENTER WILL BE LIABLE FOR ITS GUESTS’ CONDUCT
